By - | Views: 16,656

Wine is the compatibility layer that allows you to run games and applications developed for Windows - on Linux (plus also macOS and BSD). A new biweekly development release is out now with Wine 7.10. It's a major part of what makes up Steam Play Proton and enables a ton of games to work on the Steam Deck. Once a year or so, a new stable release is made.

Release Highlights:

  • macOS driver converted to PE.
  • Mono engine updated to version 7.3.0.
  • Windows-compatible Unicode collation.
  • Wow64 support in SECUR32.
  • Various bug fixes.

For bug fixes 56 were noted as solved including issues fixed for: Singularity, Panzer Corps,  Echo: Secrets of the Lost Cavern, Tribes: Ascend, Steam, Betfair Poker, Natural Vacation, HITMAN 2 (2018), FAR mod for Nier: Automata, Star Citizen, EA Origin, Port Royale 4 and more.

Need help managing Wine, either on a Linux desktop or your fancy Steam Deck? Take a look over at Bottles. Really awesome software that helps deal with it all! Bottles can help you set up other launchers like Epic Store, Ubisoft Connect, GOG Galaxy and more.
