Pier Solar and the Great Architects is a 2D RPG originally made for the Sega Megadrive that went to Kickstarter to fund a HD version. The game is now available on Linux thanks to those who helped fund it.

I think it looks absolutely beautiful and it's fantastic games like this are still being made.

The reviews are positive, so it's looking like it's being well received so far. They are putting up a demo too, but it seems it isn't all there yet as it doesn't download anything for me yet.

With 50+ hours of game-play this could be quite the winner. Lots of places to explore and lots of NPCs to talk to.

Official About
Being a turn-based RPG with state-of-the-art aesthetics, Pier Solar is a story-based RPG about the journey of three young heroes from the town of Reja. In this prospered and peaceful town there live three best friends: Hoston, Alina and Edessot. Young and curious, they want to go on a herb-seeking quest to help cure Hoston's father's mysterious illness. Little do they know ... it will be the beginning of their lifetime journey where they will learn the true meaning of friendship and the thrill of adventure.

I have it on my wishlist ready to grab when I burn myself out on Borderlands 2.

Check out Pier Solar and the Great Architects on Steam now.

Another game I supported on Kickstarter. Another game I really, really need to play. The queue keeps getting larger and larger each day :D

I just tried it, and sadly after about 10 minutes it just completely locked up :(

On the Kickstarter page they mentioned a DRM-free version. So that was only for the backers?
