Airships is a very interesting indie game that has just released on Steam for Linux, and it’s already impressing me. You are tasked with designing a steampunk airship, and taking over AI kingdoms.
It has a few different modes like the one mentioned above, including online and LAN play!

It’s another game that enables you to build machines of death, and it makes building satisfyingly easy, hooray! It seems sandbox type building games are finally taking note of my frustrations with their builders, and have made them simpler to use, while still keeping them interesting.

I've been in a few battles with a couple of my custom ship designs, and it plays out really nicely. It’s quite fun to zoom in to see your men working away.

Note: For me the current version locks all input on alt+tab, and it forces me to restart my PC. Could be a game bug, or a bug in Cinnamons window manager, but I have reported it to the developer. It does have a windowed mode for two smaller resolutions, so I could easily play using that without the fear of having to restart.

It's Early Access, so bugs are to be expected, and I can't wait to see it polished up and feature complete!

About the game (Official)
Design steampunk pixel airships out of functional modules and conquer the skies!

In the game, ships are viewed side-on, and their modules are operated by individual crew members. During combat, players give high-level commands to a small fleet, positioning their ships, ramming and boarding others. Ships and terrain are fully destructible: they can catch fire, explode, break apart, and fall. Players can also compete against one another in Internet and LAN matches.

The ships are highly detailed, teeming with sailors moving around at their individual tasks, like an ant farm or a cut-away drawing. The player's choices in ship layout are crucial, and an important part of the game is exploring the design space of different airships and their matching tactics.

You can grab it directly from the developer, as they list their Humble Store & Steam buying widgets.

If you pick it up, be sure to let us know what you think to it.

I have the game, and although it is certainly fun, I feel like it is in a very early state; the game randomly does not allow me to click any buttons until I restart the game, the combat feels very clumsy.
The ship editor is great, no complaints there.
Just a warning
