It took longer than we ever hoped, but Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is finally in opt-in beta for Linux. It may have taken over a year and a half, but they really are about to deliver on their promise. Better late than never right?

The password is "marchofpenguins", so you need to use that on the beta section of the game properties on Steam.

Official About
Since its initial release in 1998, Baldur's Gate has entertained millions of fans around the globe and has received countless awards. This classic saga of mystery, intrigue, and adventure has set the standard for Dungeons & Dragons™ computer roleplaying games ever since.

Running on an upgraded and improved version of the Infinity Engine, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition™ includes the entire Baldur's Gate adventure, the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion pack, and never-before-seen content including a new adventure and three new party members: the Calishite monk Rasaad yn Bashir, Neera the wild mage, and Dorn Il-Khan, the evil blackguard.

Hi,

I can't find a way to download the beta version. This is what I did:

view -> settings -> Account -> Beta Participation -> Change... -> Steam Beta Update.

Now, where should I look for?

Quoting: ApopasI'd read about a Linux version from Beamdog but I can't find the link.

Is this not the Linux version? I really have no idea what you are talking about.

You said that unless there is a non Steam version, you'll pass that one and I answered that as far as I know, Beamdog will release a no DRM version through their site.

They do seem to have a non-Steam version, so I think you're right

After Linux is out of beta, they should add a new download page alongside the Mac and Windows ones

Alright, so the person here who actually was born and lives near Edmonton might finally be playing a Bioware title some point soon. Cool. ;)
