This is probably one of the most unusual looking games I've seen for a while, but Beat Cop could be something great.

It's a shame the trailer doesn't seem to show you any actual gameplay, the screenshots available for it make it actually seem quite nice.

I will wait to see some actual gameplay trailers before I consider getting it myself. I never really trust trailers like the one above.

About the game
Explore its darkest corners and uncover its secrets as Jack Kelly, a former detective who has been framed for a murder. Degraded and forgotten by old pals, it’s your last chance to find the truth behind this whole terrible mess.

The thing is, your new boss treats you like shit, your wife is a money sucking spawn from hell and the local mafia wants your head on a plate. I guess you could say, that things are complicated down here, in the middle of Brooklyn. Oh, and don’t forget about writing tickets. You’re a Beat Cop after all.

Beat Cop is a retro, pixel art style adventure & time-management game set in New York, inspired by 80’s cop shows and movies.

You can pre-order it at Games Republic (the owners 11bit studios are publishing the game). I do not get any money from this like I do with other stuff on GR. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

The trailer is really cool! =)
The game sounds interesting enough. But yeah, I'll wait for some actual gameplay and more information about it.

They've got the style down pat and I was already digging out my wallet. What else could I do as an adventure fan who grew up in the eighties. Then I read "time-management" and instantly the deal is off. I wonder what it means in practice though. Maybe it's not as bad as I think? I won't hold my breath but will definitely keep my eye on this.

I have to admit I one of these people who tend to dismiss the flood of "retro" pixel art in recent games as "Ok, you guys were just to cheap to hire a 3D artist", but I have to admit that in the case, it fits the theme well. Looks interesting.
