Clockwork Empires From Gaslamp Games Should Be On Linux In August

Clockwork Empires is the next game from the developers behind the hit Dungeons of Dredmor, and they are nearing a Linux release!

On their new FAQ it states this:
QuoteQ. “Is there OS X or Linux support?”
A. “Not for Earliest Access, no. We have unpolished, internal ports that are not ready for prime-time. We hope to have this up for the first or second incarnation of Steam Early Access in August.”

Clockwork is currently in "Earliest Access", so people on Windows have access to play it before it hits Steam. I hope we aren't kept waiting too long!

They have actually had Ryan "Icculus" Gordon working with them on the game too, so it should hopefully be quite a decent Linux version. Going by Gaslamp's history we should be excited, as Dungeons of Dredmor was a great game and well supported.

I love city builder games, and when it's done as good as this looks then I'm sure it's going to be a hit across all platforms.

not sure how one leads to the others, I assume you mean decent port ? but then so was DoD (no idea of he helped on that) so all should be fine.

By that I meant port. I have edited the article to be more clear.

And it's a completely different game than DOD!

Icculus did also work on Dungeons of Dredmor, and while the port was decent, the game was and is still buggy as hell. Not enough to stop me from playing it over and over again though.

This really does look excellent, I hope they deliver as it also looks pretty ambitious. Cannibalism and Cthulhu....I'm sold!

Dredmor is a great game, so It's likely that their 2nd game will also be good.

That's good news, I was interested by this game but disappointed to see there was no Linux support when I heard of it. Really good news ! :)

Linux was a target platform from the word go though - it might be pushing the line a tad far if we start demanding same day release for Linux even for the likes of "Earliest Access".

Then I probably misread or don't remember well, I thought they had no plans for Linux, and the game seemed pretty interesting to me, that's why I was disappointed.
