I honestly think RimWorld is fantastic. A visual style inspired by Prison Architect, but you are building a colony on an alien world. The developer is finally bringing it to Steam with a huge update.

I've owned it for quite some time and I do like to sink a couple of hours into it now and then, as it's just so cool.

The new update will feature amongst other things a big new scenario system, which lots of customisation available.

The big update and Steam release is currently planned for July, but the developer noted it could be pushed back if they encounter issues.

About the game
A sci-fi colony sim driven by an intelligent AI storyteller. Inspired by Dwarf Fortress and Firefly. Generates stories by simulating psychology, ecology, gunplay, melee combat, climate, biomes, diplomacy, interpersonal relationships, art, medicine, trade, and more.

Check out the release notes of what's to come, it's massive.

I play it at work. Now that I am on summer break I guess I won't be playing it until August unfortunately =) Can't wait for the steam release though.

RimWorld seems to be heading a similar direction as Dwarf Fortress in some senses. It's a VERY good game.

QuoteWill I get a Steam key?

– It depends when you bought the game. If you bought the game on or before November 4, 2014 you will get a key when the game is released on Steam. If you bought the game after that, we will try to get you a Steam key but Valve’s policies prevent us from being able to guarantee this.

So I probably need to buy it again to have mod support through steam.

I've watched a couple of Let's Plays of this game, and it looks quite interesting. I might buy it some day.
