Great news to wake up to this morning folks! On the official Counter Strike blog the developers noted work about the Linux client for the newest iteration of the Counter Strike franchise.

I have been excited to play this for a long time as the Arms Race mode in Counter Strike Global Offensive is seriously fun and gets really heated when people hit the final weapon.

Official About
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) will expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched 12 years ago.

CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more.

The interesting thing about Counter Strike Global Offensive is it that it has been serving up time-limited DLC. These DLC packs contain community maps that get added into the official matchmaking for a limited time. It gives money back to the modders who create them for each purchase, and that's awesome.

They also in a more recent update introduced weapon "skins" much like the customization found in Call of Duty games. This enables you to make your weapons feel a little bit more personal. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Yes!

Some news is better than absolute silence, but it could still take a long time to release.

Finally its is going to happen. I was wondering why it wasn't released the same day as the mac version.

Yes! I've been waiting long for this one too!
After that L4D will be the only Valve game to not offer a Linux version yet :D

but it doesn't really matter that it doesn't have a linux version since L4D2 is basically an extended version of L4D1
also you forgot about alien swarm, that game also doesn't have a linux version
