launch/2/description: Launch
launch/2/executable: csgo.sh

Info above just added to the SteamDB entry for CSGO

We already knew the CS: GO developers were gearing up for Linux from their recent blog post, but we didn't think it would be this soon!

This is fantastic news! I look forward to rescuing those hostages, but I mostly look forward to the Arms Race mode which gets really intense for quick runs.

We have been waiting a while on this one, so I expect you all to play lots of it and tell us how it is once it is released. To be clear it is not yet out, but it hopefully will be soon.

Official About
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) will expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched 12 years ago.

CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more.

Now I guess the quantity of people playing the game at the same time will be 1% higher.
I have been waiting for this (like everybody else). I will try it when kernel 3.17 + mesa 10.3 arrive to the repos (I use r600 driver) to see how it runs.

haha I was about to say the OP should have put "soon" at the front of the article title so I wouldn't have a heart attack thinking it was already released.
Then I scrolled down to the first comment and saw that it actually was

You can download most of it, no binaries yet though, so you can't actually play.

I won't be a competitive player, I'm not that kind of gamer. So who here will be playing casual matches? I don't think I have any IRL friends who play it so ill probably be looking for people to play with.

Launches for me. :o

Edit: Seems to get stuck downloading third-party content though. I've been trying to connect to community de_dust2 server for a while, and it's stuck on downloading some spiderman skin tarball. :c

2nd edit: Okay, just played a few rounds on some confusing new map. It plays really well on nvidia hardware (GTX 560 Ti) with nvidia's blob. (surprise surprise)

The menu system is gonna take some getting used to. Oh, and like all Valve games, it's hardcoded to a qwerty layout (so it thinks I'm using "WASD", when actually I'm using ",AOE".

It has been up, the linux testings branch is closed to us normal peasants though. Looks like they were just updating their test branch. Unless you are seeing something I don't see yet, and I just refreshed the page too. Man would that make for a FANTASTIC day, I have been impatiently waiting to play it.

As for CS:GO, I downloaded it as soon as I saw this article so the bin and whatnot were not there yet, no amount of checking local content or restarting steam seemed to get it to download the missing bits though =/ I had to remove it and reinstall completely. It's almost done (90%) but I can see the bin is there now so YAY!
