CRYENGINE, the other major game engine is adding in Vulkan support in their 5.3 release due in October.

You can see their public roadmap here, if you click on "Graphics and Rendering" under the 5.3 release you will see Vulkan listed.

While exciting, not many Linux games use CRYENGINE so it remains to be seen if it will really help us all that much. At least the added benefit here is games using CRYENGINE 5.3+ will have another chance at coming to Linux in future.

Are there any CRYENGINE powered games you're excited about? Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

IIRC there is only one CryEngine Linux game on Steam and it's a wintersports themed game. This news is more exciting when you imagine projects like Star Citizen might take advantage Vulkan.

Don't forget about Kingdom Come Deliverenence which is promised to come to linux, so with this, it might be possible :)

EDIT: Isn't it then the first game engine _released_ with vulkan support? I mean for UnrealEngine, there were only those tech demos?

As I understand it, Unreal Engine only has Vulkan in the Mobile renderer yet. Which means that not all features of the engine are currently supported. Come to think of it, the list of fully released UE4 titles on Linux is pretty small as well.

Awesome news. Not many Linux games may use Cryengine at the moment but the important part is that it will be avilable for those who want to use it.

But, the Cryengine sandbox editor itself run on Linux?

Star Citizen, Ryse: Son of Rome, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Homefront: Revolution

Though, all CryEngine IV, not sure if they'll ever see a Vulkan and/or CryEngine V release.

Bit behind liam ..... Old news now :P

Regards Star Citizen, It will have zero effect on it. SC is basically their own in-house engine now.
