So, it really does seem like Crytek were in financial trouble after all. Deep Silver has now purchased the rights to the Homefront franchise and setup a new studio to work on the game. We asked them about Linux support, and the answer wasn't clear.

Still it is early days, so it may just be a simple case of not having properly looked into it all yet. I would hope they wouldn't just drop a platform that was previously announced, and they are Linux friendly. We just need to hope for the best on this one, but at least the game is in much safer hands now.

QuoteToday, Koch Media together with its publishing label Deep Silver announces that it has acquired the Homefront brand and all coherent assets from Crytek. This includes Homefront: The Revolution which has been announced on 2nd June 2014. The development will be continued in newly founded, Nottingham-based Deep Silver Dambuster Studios.

“We are thrilled to see another great IP joining the Deep Silver universe,” says Dr. Klemens Kundratitz. “We strongly believe in the potential of Homefront: The Revolution and trust in the new team to continue the path we have been walking in the last years.”

Deep Silver Dambuster Studios is the third development studio within the Koch Media Group, joining Deep Silver Volition and Deep Silver Fishlabs.

I know I'm not a legitimate source of course, but I honestly believe that means yes to Linux support. They would have said "we don't plan on supporting Linux at this time" or something to that effect, but the fact they are saying we're going to share information about Linux support in the future means they are going to make a Linux announcement in the future, and the only reason for a "Linux announcement" is to talk about their Linux version.

So, yes, Homefront will be coming to Linux IMO.

I'd guess it's too early to say. But at least, on deepsilver homepage it still states Linux. I guess they'll iron out it later in the process. The answer probably means - they don't know yet if and when, maybe it will be a release, maybe not, maybe a later release.

Quoting: BlobSince CryEngine supports Linux, they already announced support for it and Deep Silver having brought some games to Linux, I think chances are quite good.

Well in fact they didn't bring anything to Linux themselves, only 4A Games ported Metro Last Light to Linux on their own. Also, having contacted their support a while ago, I don't think Deep Silver cares that much about Linux.
