Looks like Night Dive Studios are at it again! Some classics have been added to Steam for Linux which include Dragonsphere & Darklands.

New classics now on Steam with Linux support:
  • Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender Bender
  • A priceless vase is lost on a distant planet that doesn't exist! An irate colonel wants it back! And only one man is experienced enough... skilled enough... and foolish enough to retrieve it! Interstellar adventurer and bungling bachelor Rex Nebular!
  • Sword of the Samurai
  • Enter Japan in the age of warring states. At the center of this role-playing, action-adventure simulation of combat, statesmanship and intrigue, you are a samurai warrior struggling for honor. More important than life itself, honor is crucial to achieving your ultimate goal: unifying feudal Japan under your noble rule.
  • Dragonsphere
  • Newly-crowned King of Callahach! It's been twenty years since your father saved the world by entrapping the evil Sorcerer Sanwe. Now the spell is waning. Sanwe's malevolent force will soon consume the land, and only you can stop him. Will your quest be aided or subverted by bizarre races like shape-shifting Slathans, the faery-like Brynn-Fann, of the black-eyed Soptus Ecliptus?
  • Darklands
  • Deep in the twilight of the Black Forest, you and your companions crouch before the robber-knight's tower. Hans, the alchemist, places his mysterious potion by the door. Ebhard the friar implores Saint Dunstan to bless your weapons and armor. And you and Gretchen grip naked long swords, praying your plate mail won't squeak.

ok is good to play the old games , childhood memories but I really dont see the reason of doing this!

For this you have DOSBOX, I dont want SteamOS to become SteamBOX, I wonder if they gonna start doing the same with other console emulators like MAME, SNES etc and start selling the games where you can get them for Free. And Dragonshere is Free on GOG btw...

My opinion is that these games should be FREE, it will be good for the new generation to be able to play these kind of games and see how good games were done and also experience the games of what their fathers were playing when they were at their age.....but yeah everyone needs $$$$!

Last week was a really good week for Linux releases. In addition to these and the 6 that were mentioned in articles, there was 5 additional games and 4 additional DLCs on Steam and 15 releases on GOG, of which 5 made their debut on Linux. Might have been some older games that got ported as well, but that's unfortunately a bit hard to keep track of. And who knows what might have turned up on Humble Widget and other retailers.

Good news! Dragon Sphere is free, on GOG. It also comes with the manual and OST. Not really sure why anyone would pick it up on steam

Not gonna ever complain about games coming to Linux, but I'm not going to buy old games myself. I don't have nostalgia for these clunkers, and I'm only in it for new AAA game titles, like Borderlands 2 and Metro and whatever is next. But it's great to see old games getting a Linux release, because I think some people will really appreciate it. And eventually my favorite games will be "old clunkers" and I'd like it if they got resurrected too!
