Dying Light is now confirmed for Linux thanks to the announcement from the developers on the Steam store itself. The Linux icons show up on the store pages, and the game even has a steam coming soon banner on the home-page. Time to get seriously excited.

Yet another same-day release for Linux here folks, let's hope there's a lot of that this year!

We reported on Linux appearing in the SteamDB entry for it only recently, but it looks as solid as it can get now.

The developers put up an official announcement:
QuoteDying Light is coming soon to SteamOS/Linux and Windows! Pre-Purchase Now to receive the exclusive "Punk Queen" in-game weapon and start your pre-load now so you're ready to play right at launch!

Dying Light is an action survival game presented in first-person perspective. The game is set in a vast and dangerous open world. During the day, you roam an urban environment devastated by a mysterious epidemic, scavenging for supplies and crafting weapons to help you defeat the hordes of mindless, flesh-hungry enemies the plague has created. At night, the hunter becomes the prey as the infected grow in strength and aggression - but even more lethal are the nocturnal, inhuman predators that leave their hives to feed. You will need to make use of all your skills and any available means to survive till dawn.

From Steam
Available: 27 January
This game will unlock in approximately 2 days and 13 hours
It can't come soon enough!

Still, we never usually suggest pre-ordering, ever. We have had too many issues in the past to sour the experience. However, if you wish too then look for Dying Light on Steam.

I am seriously considering breaking my own rule of not pre-ordering since the developers have announced it properly themselves now, and I would like to support their efforts (and grab the pre-order item just for kicks). Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Is Steam's "Top Sellers" list supposed to separate based on individual platform sales? As this game is missing from the list for SteamOS/Linux users (so I guess that's what's happening). In any case I send off a message (along with screenshots) to Techland in case it's a bug. I did first tried to submit it to Valve but the support page wouldn't let me (and it seems out of place to report it on the github tracker).

This is just a little bit outside my price range for the foreseeable future. They did a good job on the Dead Island port so you guys who pre-ordered it are in for a treat.

Yes! I was getting a bit worried that the Linux pre-load was only 2.8gb, started steam this morning and downloading 10 more! worrying a little less now.

Woot! Yep, downloading 10.4GB now. I can't wait! Just several more hours, and we've got ourselves another big AAA title on Linux (zero-day release to boot!).

Quoting: linuxslackerat $72 US or $97 US with season pass in Australia i wont be forking out for this. would like to buy it but with the "Australia" tax its just too much(even without its quite a pricy game) hopefully one day game makers wont rip people off for where they live

hopefully it will be in the next sales the game does look fun

Agreed. I'd love to support this effort but apart from being more expensive than the us store, it also has a season pass which to me feels like you are paying full price for half a game if you don't purchase the season pass. For sure I will purchase it, but when its on sale. The only game I plan to purchase at full price regardless of season pass will be serious sam 4.

I just picked it up via GreenManGaming which you can use voucher: HYEHZ0-GNKD1A-GFNGMQ to get 25% off and then purchase the season pass for $20 through steam, so you end up paying $65 for everything. I'm all for supporting devs bringing us games, but $80 is a bit high IMO.

Hmmm, performance is pretty bad.
On start when in tower, fps is great on 1080p best quality, but after leaving tower fps is something between 0 and potato.
After dropping to 720p and worst possible quality, game is "playable" but still kinda diashow.
