Thanks to our supporter, FutureSuture, we have word that Endless Legend will still come to Linux, but it has suffered delays.

We know they plan a Linux version:
QuoteHi all,

Yes this is something planned. We put the effort on gameplay and content for the Windows version right now, but we want to release Mac and Linux versions.

The first tests have been encouraging so far. But again, we focus on the gameplay right now.

Cheers

However, it seems they haven't found the time to do it yet, see below:

It is unclear how much it would actually help, but it can never hurt to make yourself heard as a customer. For this reason, there are these threads in the Endless Legend forum on Steam where gamers are asking for Linux support.

OSX/Linux Support planned?

GNU/Linux - SteamOS version?

About the game
Endless Legend is a 4X turn-based fantasy strategy game by the creators of Endless Space and Dungeon of the Endless. Control every aspect of your civilization as you struggle to save your homeworld Auriga. Create your own Legend!

Another sunrise, another day of toil. Food must be grown, industries built, science and magic advanced, and wealth collected. Urgency drives these simple efforts, however, for your planet holds a history of unexplained apocalypse, and the winter you just survived was the worst on record. A fact that has also been true for the previous five.

As you discover the lost secrets of your world and the mysteries of the legends and ruins that exist as much in reality as in rumor, you will come to see that you are not alone. Other peoples also struggle to survive, to grow, and perhaps even to conquer.

You have a city, a loyal populace, and a few troops; your power and magic should be sufficient to keep them alive. But beyond that, nothing is certain… Where will you go, what will you find, and how will you react? Will your trail be one of roses, or of blood?

That's cool. Amplitude have plans for Dungeon of the Endless on Linux too (but like Endless Legend, there's no ETA). Not sure about Endless Space, their 4X in space in the same universe.

Endless Space seems unlikely - they were using Unity 3.x, and I don't know if they ever even upgraded to 4 (the first version with Linux publishing support).

Hmm It uses Unity engine as far as I can tell.
So the whole "we will port to linux" is pretty much BS.
At most they may need to port a plugin that isn't compatible with linux.

I guess it's possible they use an older version of Unity without linux support, but I doubt it.
Since they aren't being very revealing about it. I will just assume they haven't hit the export button.

Nothing is as simple as pushing a button.

Really want this or Age of Wonders III - will get whichever is ported first. Just really want a fantasy 4x game :). Both look great, so yeah, whoever is quickest gets my money :P

Honestly I want this over Civ: beyond Earth.

No sure why the title is "Endless Legend Will Come To Linux". They say that they can't promise "if/when it will be released". Bolded word is a keyword. It should really say "Endless Legend Might Come To Linux... Maybe".

If anything the developper is doing his best to tamper your enthousiasm.

Sadly, I agree. Amplitude has provided a slither of hope, yet is doing its best to curb enthusiasm. I sincerely hope it comes to Linux. If not, or at least until it actually happens, Age of Wonders 3 will get a purchase from me at full price, not Endless Legend.
