Sadly, the developer has not responded to my request for a key, so I am personally unable to cover it.
I'm not sure how well tested the Linux version is either, as initially it didn't work due to case sensitivity issues with the executable (Firewatch instead of firewatch). If that isn't picked up in testing, how would anything else be?
I've also seen you might need to rename the the data folder.
How is that sort of thing not picked up if you test your game even once on Linux?
About the game
The year is 1989. You are a man named Henry who has retreated from his messy life to work as a fire lookout in the Wyoming wilderness. Perched high atop a mountain, it’s your job to look for smoke and keep the wilderness safe. An especially hot, dry summer has everyone on edge. Your supervisor Delilah is available to you at all times over a small, handheld radio—your only contact with the world you've left behind. But when something strange draws you out of your lookout tower and into the forest, you’ll explore a wild and unknown environment, facing questions and making choices that can build or destroy the only meaningful relationship you have.
A Note: Firewatch is a video game about adults having adult conversations about adult things. If you plan on playing with a younger gamer, that might be good to know going in.
Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Anyone here played it with a Xbox 360 gamepad?
I have a very slow rotating speed with the camera (although double to the right) and reversed dpad inputs (OK, I can live with that).

I think it is so sad that there exist programmers who make errors like these. Case sensitivity is the rule in ALL programming languages (of relevance, at least) , it should be in their blood to name files with that same precision, regardless if they write for a case insensitive file system or not.

Case sensitivity is really a big mistake on their part, but remember, Unity itself was developed this way. It was not until recently, that they put effort to change this in the engine, while developing the Unity Editor for Linux.

Completed it, and highly recommend it. After the initial figuring out how to get it to start, it was great! I did have a lighting issue though, but to fix it all I had to do was to crank the SSAO up (and no problems after doing that?).

Quoting: BillNyeTheBlackGuyGame is great so far from what I played. My only problem with the game is I think all the profanity in the game is way out of place. Way too much cursing for the sake of cursing at times, but that's just a minor gripe.
What? No, it does not. It's set in 1989. And let me guess, you've neither been an adult nor a teenager then.
As it happens, swearing is part of culture, and SNIP BY EDITOR.
Editor note: Cool your attitude.

How are your guys playing this? I can't even get the game files over Steam. I know I have to rename something because the developers didn't even bother trying it on Linux, but I have nothing to even rename.

Installed the game a few times just to confirm, every time it's an empty folder.

Yours seem to be some kind of wrong download. Try redownloading and verifying it.
