This is pretty big and awesome news, Gauntlet the action/RPG game similar in style to games like Diablo is getting a reboot thanks to Warner Bros teaming up with Arrowhead Game Studios who developed Magicka.

This looks absolutely fantastic, it is yet another reason to thank Valve since SteamOS was specifically stated, SteamOS is really going to bring Linux and Gaming into the same sentence for a lot of people.

Arrowhead Game StudioGauntlet will be available on PC via Steam with support for SteamOS and the upcoming Steam Machines.

They will also be at GDC, which is this week, so we should get more info soon!

The trailer tells us it will be in the summer of this year, so the game isn't even far away! Is this a sign that more developers will announce games closer to Steam Machines being released?

It seems more and more bigger developers and publishers and getting in bed with us Linux folk, let's hope they don't get cold feet. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Action! Action! Action! All the time action RPGs with absolutely zero roleplaying! So boring. :(

This isn't an action RPG, it's an arcade game remake.

No thanks. A cold box of beer, 3 mates and that big old cabinet I can see over in the corner
of my games room looks better.

Uh-oh, semantical arguments.

I personally support any ARPG (or whatever you want to call it) that doesn't have cartoon graphics.

A lack of roleplaying elements is a major con though.

Quoting: AnonymousReally loved that game. Had to LOL on the last tunes of the video :D

A pitty they go steam-only - I would have bought it for sure.

well i understand why people don't like to go to a closed platform like steam, but really it's by far the easiest way to support all distributions of linux, however i always try to keep the concurrence there by buying from Desura because everyone here knows it sucks to have monopolies, also a reason why i bought amd cpu's, intel's becoming way too dominant in the cpu market, having had no decent performance improvements since the first i-series

Oh, man... I played SO MUCH of this game in the arcade. Remember arcades? Yeah...

Used to be a pretty awesome thing in the world :)

That was great. I played the hell out of the Gauntlet II arcade standup (4-player!) back in the late 1980's / early 1990's.

I was kind of bummed that there wasn't any sign of the voice prompting in the gameplay itself, though. I'm not sure Gauntlet would be Gauntlet without hearing "helpful" advice like...
  • "Blue Warrior needs food, badly!"

  • "Red Wizard is about to die!"
(and my favorite...)
  • "Don't shoot food!!"

Thank god, i was getting depressed because i thought that this was strictly a windows release. Now i can take a little break from dota, i just wish they gave us an estimated release date, regardless i am pretty excited despite the wait.
