GOL Cast: Dying For Greater Good in Life Goes On

You know that I am often quite bad at platformers. Luckily this time the game actually requires me to get gruesomely killed to progress in this just released game. Like the title says, Life Goes On.

Life Goes On is a puzzle platformer from Infinite Monkeys Entertainment in which dying isn't really a setback like it is in many other games. You guide a group of knights that are willing to risk their life to fulfill their quest and die they indeed will. To get around different traps and obstacles you must kill your heroic servants and use their mangled bodies to climb higher or to jump over a pit of spikes.

This is a puzzle platformer, so the video will contain spoilers of the first few maps.

I was surprised how much fun I had in this game when I first started it. Because of the new and fresh way of dealing with death you can kill as many knights as you wish without getting frustrated. It's not too easy however, the puzzles will definitely require some planning and the challenge system encourages you to try to lose as few knights as possible and beat the puzzles quickly.

The gameplay is really simple and I think the game actually benefits from that in this case. It has the basic controls of a platformer and zero combat, your focus is on reaching the end of the map.

Overall I like this game, it looks neat, works nicely and remains interesting. Sadly the game doesn't really have any backstory, I am a sucker for stories.

I've been having a decent amount of fun with this. Even after the initial humor wears off there's plenty of challenging platforming/puzzles to be had.
