Gravity Ghost Released For Linux, It's Bloody Lovely

Thanks to a reader we were able to take a look at Gravity Ghost, a charming gravity platformer from Ivy Games LLC.

Longtime readers of GOL will know I'm not a big fan of platformers unless they do something extremely different, and there are a few gravity based platformers around, but Gravity Ghost is one of the few to actually keep me interested as it succeeds and being different, and it's not actually as easy as it looks.

It's all about a young girl collecting flowers, stars, and getting spirit animals back to their body, but those cheeky animals keep floating about and it's your task to catch them. It's well executed, and oozes charm from every corner, but the story takes a little bit to get into, as the cutscenes don't really give that good of an idea of what's actually going on.

It's a quiet game with no big action packed scenes, and this makes it a fantastic game to stick on after a hard day when you need to do some relaxing. What I really like about it is that there's very little to get frustrated about, as you don't die, infact there's no health system at all. It takes as long as it takes for you to master the gravity to complete each section, and it can be a little tricky at times with planets moving about and you end up landing on the wrong one.

Gravity Ghost is one of the few games that's actually made me want to collect everything on each section, as I really wanted to see just how long my locks could get, and getting an achievement popping up telling me I'm fabulous was amusingly camp (for a guy collecting flowers to grow his hair, that's more than a little camp).

Just look at my lovely long hair, LOOK AT IT, isn't it glorious:

About the game (From Steam)
Gravity Ghost is a peaceful gravity hopper: Run, jump, and orbit your way through a handpainted galaxy. Join Iona the ghost as she searches for her lost best friend, the ghost fox. Explore a shattered galaxy and rescue its survivors, armed with powerups and mysterious terraforming powers. Meet the 7 magical guardians and best their challenges. There's no killing, no dying, no way to fail. Just hours of blissing out to buttery-smooth gravity goodness.

Check out Gravity Ghost on Steam or via their website now. Overall I think it's really well done, and it deserves the good reviews it has been getting. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Quoting: lucifertdarkAnyone else think this is similar to the game Beyond Gravity but a bit more complex?

I can see the superficial similarities, but it's not similar at all. I thought Beyond Gravity was fun for a while and I've "completed" it, but it has extremely trivial, one-click controls with very little change in challenges throughout the game. Gravity Ghost has a lot of unlockable skills that change how you can play a lot, completely free-form platforming and it requires skills beyond mere timing of jumps. Gravity also plays an integral role, in that it can be used to gain thrust, but is also a potential obstacle if you get to close to a planet you're trying to navigate around. As mentioned it also has an interesting story; something that Beyond Gravity lacks completely.
Ok so it's a lot different then & yes Beyond Gravity is very simple to play.
