Planetary Annihilation Releasing Next Month, New Epic Trailer

By - | Views: 6,275
Planetary Annihilation is to officially release on September the 5th, the current Linux version is terribly buggy, but the latest test build is very promising.

The issue is their UI middleware named Coherent which is rather buggy on the Linux side, so it's not entirely Uber Entertainments fault and after testing out their latest test build I am actually quite confident in it being a good release.

The problem in the current version is: Load up, black screen. Load up again, get into a game and...no UI appears. Repeat. This does seem to be solved in their "PTE" build, but we will confirm this properly to you when we test it after being pushed to the final release.

Check out this damn fine new trailer:

Quoting: GuestIf they can write such a complex game with so many units (without lagging everything to death, like all supreme commander games before it) I wonder why in oblivion they would use middleware for their UI.

But I just love how this game's selling point is that you can attach thrusters to asteroids and fling them into your opponents causing certain death.

Time. They would be re-using code from their other games along with writing new code. Using a multi-platform middleware saves them a lot of time.

Also yeah the selling point is the immense destruction. I mean there's basically a death star in the game...:D

I've never had black screen or no UI in current version.

It's just the coherent UI engine that crashed regulary. Last game I've played with it, I had to restart 4/5 times for a game of one hour / one hour and half.

Sadly, in the actual PTE version, the problem is exactly the same.
