Prison Architect Alpha 25 Released, Massive Update

Prison Architect is probably one of the best indie games around for strategy/sim fans. This new update introduces prisoner reputation, protective custody and much more.

I haven't taken a look at it properly in a while, and wow it's come a long way since the early alpha versions it's insane. There's a lot more to do now once your prison population starts building up. The game also looks fantastic on my 32" TV! It may not be designed to work with a game-pad, but I imagine this would be pretty fun to kick back with on a Steam Machine due to the simple interface.

The interface has gone through a few minor changes since the earlier versions too with more important information being displayed along the top of your screen, and it's a nice touch.

The graphical bugs I used to get a lot between blocks in the earlier versions also seems to be gone, so the Linux version is looking really nice right now.

The new reputation system for prisoners is interesting with attributes like being a snitch, being a cop killer and generally being an arsehole. It will certainly change the game-play a bit if you get a few prisoners who are more likely to start fights, so you better make sure you have plenty of guards about and good fencing in place.

Prisoners will once again build escape tunnels and team up with other prisoners to build them. It's a good idea to put some guard dogs out to sniff them out!

There's a lot more to the new version, so take a look at the full forum changelog.

This game is fun yet maddening at the same time. I've had to completely restart my game because I ran out of money and built something that was basically a conduit for prisoners to escape. It's fun, and a good passive play game. I find that I can pick it up for 15 minutes then put it down for a week and don't have to re-lean how to play.

Quoting: GuestI started playing it today and I can’t stop. Easy to pick up. Unfortunately it’s not finished and many things are strange, some not working at all. And there is no goal.
Huh. Just like a real prison.
