emailed me to request a little shout out for for games store which offers Linux support, good to see more stores offer us support!
My name is Chris Palmarozzi and I run the business end of Shiny Loot, a new independently developed distribution platform. We use a trait-based filter system with a ton of options to help match users to games that best fit their interests and sell PC/Mac/Linux games all with minimal to no DRM. How would you feel about covering our Linux distribution support?
Feel free to ask any questions, and I hope to talk with you more soon.
I decided to ask a few questions:
1) Why did you decide to support Linux?
QuoteShiny Loot decided to support Linux because our platform is designed for gamers to discover their perfect game through our traits and filtering tools without restrictions. Gamers are by no means limited to PC, and we hope we can open up further support for Mac and Linux as well as reduce DRM requirements through our storefront.
2) Why should someone shop with you over other shops that offer Linux games?
QuoteI think there's a few reasons to choose Shiny Loot over other Linux supported stores. Our search and filter tools make it a lot easier to find that matches what one is envisioning, all games are minimal to no DRM which means at most you will only need a one time key activation, and we have a strong catalog of almost 300 games, primarily comprised of indie games. Finally outside of potential taxes all of our games are priced the same worldwide.
3) How have Linux sales been for you so far?
QuoteWe don't differentiate sales specifically by OS. Except in rare instances, users purchasing a game receive access to all installers for all available operating systems. With that said games with a Linux option have been a noticeable, but not large percentage of sales. As our Linux library grows, we hope that percentage increases.
We already feature them on our Game Sales
page as a provider and they will be keeping an eye on the page to add their sales when they do them (although if they forget we will of course get on it).
It's great to see more stores open their doors to Linux it seems like it's becoming a minority nowadays to find places that don't support us in some way, great stuff!
