SPACECOM, A Minimalistic & Hardcore Strategy Game Coming To Linux

SPACECOM is a new space strategy game coming to Linux in the second half of this year. It is being published by the new publishing arm of 11bit studios (Anomaly, Games Republic) called "11 bit launchpad".

The game looks not too dissimilar to the Galcon games where you drag from world to world to conquer them, but SPACECOM looks far more in-depth than that. Imagine Master of Orion without the planetary building this is all about tactical fleet strategy.

Kuba Stokalski, Lead Designer at Flow CombineSPACECOM focuses on the mental elements of hardcore, real-time strategy. It's not about quick clicking, but rather, devising plans and properly executing them. I'm happy that we found a partner that can back us financially and with the necessary experience. It'll enable us to make the most of what SPACECOM is, and what it can be.

-Heavy focus on multiplayer - dominate up to 6 players per map
-No coincidence, no luck. What matters is good planning and successful execution
-Sound designed specifically to trigger strategic thinking
-Minimalistic visual design inspired by military technology
-Created to exalt smart thinking over fast clicking

It sounds like a true strategy title and I can't wait to see what it actually plays like.

The game will be available on Steam & Games Republic later this year. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.
