Team17 really are getting more Linux friendly, and the latest game in the Worms series title 'Worms W.M.D' will be heading to Linux at release.

@gamingonlinux We can confirm this is true!

I look forward to trying the new Worms game. The addition of vehicles and buildings certainly sounds interesting. They are even adding in mounted weapons. Looks like Worms is about to get a whole lot more interesting.

About the game (Official)
It’s the 21st anniversary of Worms, and Team17 is celebrating it by launching the best version of the game yet! Worms W.M.D has a new look and new features, delivered by an engine that creates the best Worms gameplay experience ever.

Be sneaky and hide out in buildings, use mounted guns, and get around in a range of different vehicles. Take the fight online and compete in multiplayer matches, all with the essential feel of the classic Worms experience.

Classic Gameplay, Back by Popular Demand: We hear you! Worms W.M.D sees the reintroduction of the much loved ‘classic’ Ninja Rope, and we’ve recreated some of the key physics and gameplay that made the previous game so popular!

Updated, they are aiming for day 1.

Team17 and Linux are a great pairing! Many Amiga users switched to Linux after the fall of House Commodore (myself included), so with a few more titles, we might again see some of that beautiful, classic love that can only happen between a platform and a games company ;)

I hope this will have cross-platform multiplayer (unlike Worms Reloaded).

That and controller support, which Clan Wars completely lacked for Linux.

Ah Worms, this brings back fond memories of LAN Parties playing Worms World Party with 5 friends at one PC for days and nights to come while getting totally wasted :D
2D Handpainted, with hopefully day-1 Linux support, there is only one thing to say: Shut up and take my money :D

I really miss the Worms 4 Mayhem. It was amazing, and in 3D environment. IMO, better than "classical" 2D
