Towns Building Sim Is Alive Again, Version 14d Released

Towns has a bit of colourful history sadly, but that hasn't stopped a brand new update coming out which is excellent for anyone who picked it up after all that kerfuffle before.

I really hope this is the start of a turnaround for towns, and it will be interesting to see if any of the bad reviews for it get changed back to the good reviews they were before the players went ape at the developers.

Anyway it brings some pretty hefty new features like a random events system (good events and bad events), a day and night cycle, rotation of some building items (how this wasn't a feature from the start is anyone's guess) and more!

See the full changelog here, or just check it out on Steam.

About Towns
The game brings a fresh new take on the city building/management genre by introducing many RPG features.

In Towns you manage a settlement on top of an active dungeon. Instead of playing the hero who delves deep into the dungeon, how about playing the town that houses and caters to the hero's needs? Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

When developers decided to change a letter instead of just saying v15 it can get confusing.

This is 14 "d".

I see now they are releasing updates more frequently so they aren't changing version numbers. It yould be less confusing for me if they would use 14.1, 14.2 and so on.

So are the same people still developing it? Or did it end up in someone else's hands?

I got it a while back, long before moving to Linux, and played it a fair bit. I liked it, but there was clearly a lot to be done still. Hopefully whoever's developing this can bring it to a more acceptably beta or even complete level.

Its back to same people!

This first release was to fix some more immediate things that have been haunting the game as an unfinished product, like the lack of tutorial and some fixes.

There seem to be more on the way.

I'd like to see better sound effects, what was in place last time I played were pretty horrid.
