Unreal Engine 4 Now Has Linux Demo Games To Try

Thanks to the community a bunch of demo games built in Unreal Engine 4 now work on 64bit Linux, so give it a try! The current Unreal Engine only supports 64bit Linux, so remember that if you plan to try the test games.

There's still a lot of work to do to get Linux supported fully in the Unreal Engine ecosystem like UnrealFrontend, the Editor (although the community has done work there), but it doesn't look like 32bit will be officially worked on due to Unreal themselves focusing on 64bit.

See the wiki page here for the games. I tested out Tappy Chicken, Swing Ninja and the Mobile Temple tests and all ran great on my machine, so that's already made me feel good about the future with Unreal Engine. See a screen-shot below:image

I hope the progress on it all doesn't slow down. In the wake of bad news coming from Crytek we need Unreal Engine.

Not sure if alot of people know this but that game that has been in early access for a while called "Centration" was switched to UE4 a while back.

Yeah they switched and claimed a rather big performance boost. Cannot wait to see it in action.

Well, that Mobile Temple Demo just says "Aborted" on my laptop.
To be fair, it has only a GM965 card, with OpenGL 2.1.

Gonna see what my desktop says later this evening.

Me too, it shows that error on all the samples i tried, my PC has HD7850

seems time for me to finally say goodbye to 9800gt everything requires shader 1.5 so i only see black screen

Well, I tried "elemental" and it ate half of my ram (about 2GB) and I had some slowdowns (not important) when changing the scene. I hope when they release unreal torunament it eats less resources, otherwise I will have to upgrade. The demo level is small.

I suppose that this is the most demanding demo of all, and most of the games will not require a hight end machine.
Phenom II 955, 4GB ram nvidia 660. With arch, and I had to configure openal to use alsa (which is a wrapper from pulse to use alsa programs).
