WORLD END ECONOMiCA episode.01 is a fantastic looking visual novel recently translated into English and it's now fully released onto Steam for Linux. They are also crowdfunding translations for the other two episodes.

The Linux version using Ren'Py may still be buggy right now too, so play with it at your own risk! You may encounter these issues on Linux:
-Preferences screen is a mess
-Sprites sometimes overlap each other
-Text sometimes messes with the interface
-Audio sfx sometimes does not play
-Music overlaps sometimes
-Movies don't play
-CG mode doesn't exist
-Music mode doesn't exist

That comes from them directly as I haven't tried it myself yet, but it does look really well made.

About
From the author of Spice and Wolf, Isuna Hasekura, comes WORLD END ECONOMiCA. The opening video features music by Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets, known for the opening songs for High School of the Dead and Strike the Blood.

A three part visual novel set in the far future on the moon, 16 years after humans have begun to colonize it. A young boy named Haru has been chasing his wildest dream. His dream is to stand where no man has stood before, and in order to do so he needs capital, a ludicrous amount of capital. What better place to get that amount of capital by using the stock market? There are two key rules that govern the stock market.

The first rule: Never take a loss.
The second rule: Never forget the first.

Only those who follow these rules are able to obtain enormous wealth...

Check it out on Steam.

The crowfunding for the translation of episode 2 & 3 has hit well over the goal too, so with the stretch goals in mind all episodes will now get a "HD facelift" even though they already look great. They will also now come to Android thanks to hitting a different stretch goal too. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Never gave any attention to visual novels until:

QuoteFrom the author of Spice and Wolf

:O

I think this will be my first attempt at a visual novel. Spice and Wolf is one of my favorite anime of all time and was ended prematurely, so hopefully this will fill that Spice and Wolf shaped hole left in me, given the similar themes.
