Our MC Server Is No More
Liam Dawe Mar 28, 2014
Sadly our world got too big and consumed too many resources, so the choice was either a new map or a new game and I have decided - New Game.

You can download a copy of the old world here: http://www.gamingonlinux.com/uploads/mcworlds/world.zip

Not sure when we will do a new server yet as I am quite busy, the main thing is I don't want to pay for a server for a game I got totally bored with.

Quoting: GamerShadow123but why... ;(

Hardly anyone played on it mainly due to lag as we needed more resources and I didn't want to pay out for a bigger server.

I will be taking the old server download away soon, if you wanted it you should have it by now.

If you used dynmap (I don't know, I wasn't aware of this server), it usually consumes a lot of resources.
Without it, I have been able to run servers on very low-end PCs, even a raspberry pi (okay for 2-3 players). But I admit a native C client would be really useful.

i would say proper multicore support for minecraft would be pretty usefull
but sadly that isn't on mojangs plans, yet they have multicore support for the client, but why the hell did they spend the time on the client when the server needs it so much more than the clients?

Yeah, sorry, I meant the server. A native multithreaded C server, eventually accelerated on the GPU (Useful for the raspberry, for instance) would have been great. Any idea how the server is open?
