Do not adjust your screen that is a real headline. Crytek's CRYENGINE Powered Homefront The Revolution has been announced with full Linux support.

Set as a sequel to the FPS Homefront, but you won't need to have played the first one as they have already explained everything on their website for it. America has been occupied by an enemy force and you are the resistance.

It will have a single-player campaign as well as online Co-op play which sounds just awesome. It's an open-world FPS, so it isn't your standard run and gun CoD-like game. It has a day & night cycle, weather effects and more to be revealed it's sounding better the more I read up on it.

About (from their site)
Homefront: The Revolution brings the streets of Philadelphia to life in spectacular style thanks to the power of CRYENGINE. Crytek's game-creation technology advances into new territory as its real-time lighting heritage is extended to dynamic and procedural weather systems that combine with a full day-night cycle using physically consistent lighting-values. On the ground, players will simply experience a deeper immersion in an environment that feels and looks alive at every turn – an authenticity that extends to the strikingly lifelike expressions, skin and clothing of everyone they encounter; friend or foe. In a city that looks this good, every last block is definitely worth fighting for.

Quoting: killxdenHomefront 2 was pretty linear and had a lot of scripted events, I hope they will change that a bit.

Since this sequel will be open world(!), no less, it definitely will change from the traditional linear shooter formula.

Paying for anticommunist propaganda? They should pay us for play this s**t.

North Korea invading EEUU.. WTF Is the USA the country invading others (Iraq, Afghanistan, Libia), seriously this is ridiculous. The empire is the victim now LOL

Umm... are you sure you are not taking this a bit too seriously?

So?
In almost every war game you have to kill the bad Germans. To me that is annoying. So it is refreshing to shot at someone else for a change ^^
Also it is just a fictional game. The gameplay will be important in the first place.

Assumed it was about fighting back at government police state tyranny. And would have made it multitudes more interesting and plausible and pertinent to today's state of affairs storyline than Korea invading (a.k.a "Red Dawn" movie) scenario.

Makes me wonder if game developers/companies are also missing a couple of vital body parts like our Tech Companies and media/news/journalist lack of going against the man.

Would have been a winner for me fighting a corrupt government with Urban warfare scenarios and some Splinter Cell type missions of Infiltration of hard and soft targets to sabotage and/or retrieve vital government documents to help the cause.

Otherwise looks like a well done game and still wish it success on the Linux platform.

Big hype, mediocre execution.

In my opinion, Cryengine is the best looking engine out there. I can't wait to get this!!

I have my doubts it will look that good upon launch but I'll be happy if they prove me wrong. I thought the original Homefront was a solid game. Nothing spectacular but not bad. Nice to see Crytek hopping on the Linux wagon.
