War Thunder announced a little surprise for us in their E3 video! A Linux version that they have been showing off.

It sounds like the Linux version is already far along, and they noted they are working on the game while they are there too.

World of Tanks is Wargaming, War Thunder is Gaijin (same as Star Conflict). Wargaming have been much more resistive to non Windows platforms.

I didn't see a specific platform that was being used -- as far as I am aware the PC's in the centre console were Windows machines. They demoed Linux as was said in the video, but I don't think it was a hands on demo.

Not exactly. Wargaming sponsors LVEE for a long time. Also every conference they have some presentations, workshops, etc. Their servers runs GNU/Linux. They contribute a lot to GNU/Linux actually.
