Storm United UE4 FPS Updated, Works Great On Linux Now & On Sale

Storm United is probably one of my favourite FPS games right now, and the recent update has cemented that rather firmly.

The new update is a pretty good one adding in new classes and weapons, new maps, new AA options, a gamma setting that actually works, a windowed fullscreen option for us with multiple monitors (although fullscreen works fine for me). There's much more, but i'm actually damn happy with the release.

The only thing the game needs now is more players, and that will come with time and more regular updates. During the livestream I did last night we actually managed to get a pretty good game going, and it seems a few new people picked it up after watching me play, so that's great.

The game is really very smooth now, and the controls all feel very fluid. It plays a bit like a slightly slower Unreal Tournament with more tactical gameplay, and that has me very happy.

I will look to do a Storm United event in the next few days, so when is good for you guys? It would be after 7PM UTC for me to be available on any day.

You can find Storm United on Steam. It's also on sale with 75% off to celebrate, so now is a pretty good time to get it.

Quoting: Bloomberyit's crashed :(
Early Access still means you're playing a beta, or in some cases an alpha. If you want stability, it's safer to stick to games that are actually released.

Quoting: GuestI generally disagree - early access doesn't mean you should get something that crashes. Early access is not a free pass to get money for a buggy mess.
You can disagree all you want, but in practice this is what you get, more often than not. The only exception is if the game is functionally complete and tested and the only thing missing is content, but even then you're paying for an unfinished product.

Quoting: GuestAn unfinished product, and an entirely non-functional one, are two separate things.
You're not wrong. Although it is understandable that Early Access builds do not receive as much in-house testing as a final build would. Of course it's perfectly fine to request a refund if the game doesn't work, EA or not.

Using radeonsi it doesn't even get into the game, so buyer beware, I wish Liam would test this kind of stuff (i.e. not using just proprietary drivers) before saying "Works great"...

@Xzyl you're missing main idea of this site I guess. Liam is not a tester, who tries all the possible hardware configuration and gives final verdict of the linux version of the game. He is an enthusiast who does a lot for us, the community. He always says that he wrotes about his personal opinion about the game and always advises that he would like to hear a feedback from us. If you are dissapointed about the game quality - just request a refund. Do not be mad at Liam who does a great job for all of us.

Quoting: linuxgamerI have a bad feeling buying "Early Access" esp. with 75% off.

You misunderstand then - the game will be Free to Play when it leaves Early Access. At this time however Early Access buys you some limited edition items you won't be able to get later in addition to playing right now.

So far I've bought 5 copies for friends & myself included. SU is good, but it is a bit CPU intensive like other UE4 games imo so my i7 1st Gen barely cuts it even though I'm equipped with a GTX 970.

For those of you who are having issues with crashing, a number of maps are giving Linux users problems. These maps include: Confrontation, Frontside, U-Turn, and Two Rocks. If you try to connect to a server with one of these maps, you will be unable to join the server. It's an issue we're still looking into, and are hoping for a fix for it soon.

In our latest hotfix, we've added a debug executable, for players to help us pinpoint the issues with these maps.

The current Linux build is still a little quirky, but we're trying our best in finding the current issues. Anyone with specific issues, feel free to throw a thread up over on Steam or nudge me. Thanks guys and we're more than thrilled to be featured here :D

Next thing you will say is Michael and his click bait do great things for the Linux community. I wasn't mad I simply said he shouldn't say works great in a title when it's simply not true. Anyhow after the 24'th update can anyone get into game?

Edit, if I do want to be angry with Liam for some reason, that's my prerogative and will do so if I please to do so. There has been plenty of instances where he acted less than professional on this site and even took jabs at members saying such wonderful things. Seriously guy go suck a lemon with your Liam is infallible cult like crap.
