Funded on Kickstarter, The Dwarves is from Battle Worlds: Kronos and the highly rated The Book of Unwritten Tales developer KING Art Games. This new trailer has caught my eye.

I love the look of the combat and the real time pause could get helpful when there's a lot of enemy's around.

They also announced the release date has slipped a bit, it's now due this "Fall" sometime.

About the game
The Dwarves is a fantasy role-playing game with a strong story and tactically challenging real-time battles. 15 playable heroes, each with individual skills, are to be deployed cleverly. Take on superior numbers of orcs, ogres, älfs, bögnilim, zombies, dark mages and many more foes, to give them the low-down.

Based on the bestselling novel “The Dwarves” by Markus Heitz you’ll experience a fascinating tale revolving around the coolest fantasy race ever: The Dwarves!

It's also coming to Steam and you can follow the Steam page here. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I backed it, so been playing the beta, it has some rough edges still but that is allowed for a beta. I do love what I played so far though and King ART is an okay developer in my book :)

"Play the coolest fantasy race out there"

I get to play as orcs!? That's aweso... Oh.

Dwarves are pretty cool too, I guess. So long as I get to slaughter some disgusting filthy elves at some point. ;)

I hope that when you say, "playing the beta," you mean the Linux beta. Yes? Yes? Oooo say yes. That would make my heart go all "Yayyy!" 'cause it means that they're already working on a Linux build.

I really want this game.

So say, "Yes."

(yes) :)

Yes, there is a Linux beta and the backers have access to it on Steam. I haven't tested it much but except the videos the game works well. When they released it there was some issue with some folders not taking into consideration that Linux uses case sensitive filesystems but King Art fix it pretty quickly.

The trailer looks great (albeit the music is pretty bad; well, I don't like that heavy metal score at least x-D). Glad I'm a backer of this project. Looking forward to it.

It was confirmed for Linux last year: https://www.linuxgaming.de/spiele-allgemein-f128/die-zwerge-kommt-fuer-linux-t6053.html

Not sure about the music, but apart from that I love the look of the game and the gameplay looks fun as well!

Does the BETA work on linux?

Heavy metal is definitely the music for Dwarves, I mean, they dress in metal, and irony is what happens in a smithy...
Very heavy and metallic if you ask me :-D
