Shadow Warrior 2 looks incredible and it's releasing a lot sooner than I expected. The developers tweeted out that it's due in less than two months!

About the game

Shadow Warrior 2 is the stunning evolution of Flying Wild Hog’s offbeat first-person shooter following the further misadventures of former corporate shogun Lo Wang. Now surviving as a reclusive mercenary on the edge of a corrupted world, the formidable warrior must again wield a devastating combination of guns, blades, magic and wit to strike down the demonic legions overwhelming the world. Battle alongside allies online in four-player co-op or go it alone in spectacular procedurally-generated landscapes to complete daring missions and collect powerful new weapons, armor, and arcane relics of legend.

It will be available on Steam and GOG, but only Steam currently lists it for Linux/SteamOS.

Exciting, but I need to finish the first one!

I can say that I unfortunately am not currently working with FWH on SW2. I had some good talks with people at GDC, but I've been too busy to followup with them. It does seem they have engineers internally that use Linux so if they are advertising it then it should happen.

It's good that they have in-house Linux programmers. It means they are taking things seriously and want to support Linux as a primary target.

I emailed Devolver Digital to ask about GOG & the Linux version, here's what they said:

QuoteThere won't be a Linux version at launch, similar to the first game. Sorry but the team does plan on having one and it will be DRM-free as well.

So, good news: Linux version should be coming to GOG. Bad news: no Linux version until some time after launch.

That really blows, this usually means much, much later. They do plan on having one indicates to me that they aren't even working on it yet. Hopefully they at least made sure not to choose any middleware that would be problematic.

It's good that they have in-house Linux programmers but kinda bad since I personally enjoyed your Linux port of Shadow Warrior 1 :)
