Released late yesterday, the Wine team officially put out a new development release with Wine 4.5 now available.

Highlights from this release:

  • Support for Vulkan 1.1.
  • Better support for kernel objects in device drivers.
  • Still more Media Foundation APIs implemented.
  • Support for SVG elements in MSHTML.
  • Fixes for case conversion troubles in Turkish locale.

They also noted another round of bug fixes, with 30 in total marked as solved. As always, some might have been fixed in earlier released and only noticed now. Of those bugs it includes issues fixed with The Sims, League Of Legends, Settlers III and more.

Once they get Media Foundation APIs solid, that should be another big tick for a lot of games that currently have issues. It's certainly going to be interested to watch Wine evolve along with Steam Play, since Valve's contracted work with CodeWeavers has already helped.
