It seems Tropico 7 is now a confirmed thing, with Kalypso Media emailing today an announcement about forming a brand new studio dedicated to the next game. Early days yet with work ongoing to prepare for Tropico 7, so don't expect any actual news on the game soon.

Nine Worlds Studios is the name of the new team, named after "the nine worlds of Norse mythology - symbolising the team's ambition to create new worlds". This is the second studio that Kalypso Media has in the tech hub of Munich, Bavaria as they join Realmforge Studios who made Spacebase Startopia and the Dungeons series and Nine Worlds Studios are the fifth development studio within Kalypso Media.

From the press release:

Simon Hellwig, Managing Director of Kalypso Media Group, said: "We are pleased to announce the establishment of our second studio in Munich. This allows us to use already existing infrastructures between our two studios. We are confident in our ability to ramp up the studio to full size by early next year to start production of Tropico 7."

Dr. Anika Thun, Managing Director of Kalypso, added: "Due to the fantastic experience we have had with the city of Munich and the general promotion of video games in Bavaria, it was a logical decision to expand in this region. We are now looking for talented team members who want to work on the latest instalment of the cult classic series. Candidates with experience in Unreal Engine programming, Unreal Engine technical art, game, level, narrative and mission design, as well as UI/UX, VFX artists, animation specialists and 3D generalists, who are ideally also familiar with the Unreal Engine, are encouraged to apply and join us in Munich."

Thomas Schneider, Project Manager said: "As Kalypso's fourth developer studio in Germany, Nine Worlds can draw on a wealth of experience as well as a reliable network, while at the same time becoming part of an environment in which all sides are passionate and actively involved in the development of international brands. I am very pleased to be working with such a strong and renowned company to establish the ambitious Nine Worlds Studios in such a renowned games location as Bavaria."

They have a number of job positions open at Nine Worlds Studios which you can see here.
