Steam Winter Sale 2022 is live now, plus vote for the Steam Awards

By - | Views: 36,419

Valve has put up their huge Winter Sale 2022 with tens of thousands of games that are discounted, plus you can now vote for the winners of the Steam Awards. This is a great time to stock up on games ready for the holiday season, or to just fill up your Steam Library ready to play through 2023 because I'm sure you don't have many games you haven't played yet right?

The sale is live until January 5, 2023 at 10am PST / 6pm UTC. With voting for nominees now over too, you can also begin voting for the winners in the Steam Awards.

A few suggestions on some great deals to pick up that are Steam Deck Verified, so they should also be no problem to run on desktop Linux too:

What will I be picking up? Nothing! I'm finally taking a stand, locking my wallet away and going through some games I picked up in previo…oh look at that Life is Strange: True Colors is 60% off — oops.

See all on the Steam Store. As a reminder, it usually struggles with traffic at the start, so wait a while if it's loading to slow or not loading at all for you.

Looking @ God of War & the new Warhammer

I saw spiderman was on sale, I'm not much a fan of the franchise I wonder if I would enjoy it anyways? Hmm

This is typically when I buy gift copies of LAN games so its a good time to pick them up.

Honestly considering how dirt cheap Dota skins and parts are I could easily spend a few dollars in that or CSGO and be happy but every day is a sale in marketplace.

Black Mesa has multiplayer that is surprisingly fun.

I'm mostly in for fun friends & family LAN games -- not really sure if any escaped my notice.

Picked up Dishonored, which I’m told is a pretty good game

Quoting: CGullAs a Linux user, why pay for or recommend games that don't actually support your platform? The way native Linux games have been sidelined from the awards is extremely disappointing.

Because the way forward is emulation, people need to deal with that. If we were to throw Proton/Wine out the door and rely on native support, we'd be stuck at ground zero forever. Native Linux games have not been "sidelined". The awards are based on user nominations.

How about stating your way - without pressing it on other people? I still got way more to play, natively, on Linux than time to play.

Maybe our impressions are so different due to different favourite genres. Puzzle games, point and click, CRPGs, plus work and children... cannot complain I couldn't fill my time with great native Linux games!

That's true. The games appealing to the biggest masses mostly aren't on Linux.

Quoting: PenglingA number of games from my wishlist are in the sale, but for now, due to the possibility of receiving a Steam gift-card over the Christmas period, I'll probably just grab Race the Sun, which is currently 90% off!
In the end, I also picked up Ape Out (which I grabbed on Fanatical as it was slightly cheaper there), Beat Invaders, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Frog Detective 2: The Case of the Invisible Wizard, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. Those should keep me going for a while!

EDIT: I ended up going back for Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, as well.
