CD PROJEKT RED have now revealed the 2.0 update for Cyberpunk 2077 releases on September 21st, plus there's a new cinematic trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC that releases September 26th.
It's currently rated Steam Deck Verified, and works great on desktop Linux, but will that change with the huge upgrade and DLC? Only time will tell, hopefully there won't be many issues but I'll be taking a look at the update at release to see how it runs and let you know.
Some of what's coming to the 2.0 update includes an overhaul to the perk system, vehicle combat, an updated police system, various AI improvements, and much more. It's going to make it feel like a very different game. Check out the new 2.0 update trailer below:

The developers also released a new build planner, since it's such a big overhaul so you can plan ahead as you'll be given a one-time chance to redistribute all your points when you jump in after the 2.0 update lands.

That cinematic trailer was good. Maybe I'm bias cause I like Idris Elba, but I got sucked right in.
He's such a good actor and seems like a cool guy. I wish he'd reconsider being James Bond. He's literally perfect for the role. I can totally picture him in an homage scene to Dr. No, playing baccarat with a cigarette in his mouth saying "Bond, James Bond." It's too bad that the racist pieces of shit turned him off from doing the role. We can't have nice things apparently. </rant>

I had Cyberpunk preordered well over a year before release, and I still have yet to play it.
Initially I decided to wait for them to patch the game considering all the issues it had, and then I didn't had the need to play the game since other games and stuff kept me occupied.
But I guess next week is the perfect time to finally start my Cyberpunk journey!
Luckily, I wasn't hyped for the game, so I had no urge to play it directly at release.

I thought Cyberpunk was a great game in many ways and that it clearly got a lot of unfair press due to it being too over-hyped (on the other hand hype is obnoxious so I like when it gets taken down a peg).
In my opinion the biggest problem with the game was that it felt horribly unbalanced. Combat was usually quite easy and the huge number of items and upgrades available in the game wound up seeming inconsequential. Sounds like they at least attempted to address some of that in this upgrade, so I'm very much looking forward to it.
Also runs extremely well for me on linux, and I'm glad CDProjekt bothered to get it steam deck verified particularly considering that it's on its own engine, though I'm disappointed it still doesn't seem to have ray-tracing support.

I originally was hyped for Cyberpunk. What I wanted was a darker single player story based experience. What they seem to put out was an open world Saints Row/GTA type game with bugs galore. Will this update give me what I wanted ?

I'll wait for the DLC and FSR3 update.
FSR3 is sure taking is god damn time, hope it works under Linux and it is decent and not a flop.

Agreed. He has the charisma and womanizer qualities you expect from a good Bond actor. But, that should had happened about 10 years ago. He is 51 now, so only would had time for 1, maybe 2 films before being too old, IMHO.
Sure, you had a couple guys like Tom Cruise stretching the age limit for a action actor, but I personally find it very unconvincing and distracting, after all, being in my forties, I know age let you at a huge physical disadvantage against younger guys. No amount of makeup or special effects will make me forget that.

Indeed, after all the hype, it turned out I didn't much like Cyberpunk 2077, for various reasons. I was excited for Keanu Reeves, but I very much disliked his character. I found his obnoxious appearances annoying at times, even.
The game itself wasn't worth taking up the storage. I didn't care for the main game quests that much (pretty monotonous and a lot of silly cyber hacking etc.), and after completion, and dumping me back in game before the final chapter, the city was boring. Go wander around and look for pockets of gang enemies etc. and pick up the odd gig you missed that will be tediously similar to all the others from that quest giver.
Most all of the city is just props (non interactive), and you see the same iterations of bystanders everywhere you go. The driving isn't even all that much fun, everything except Jackie's bike handles like a pizza turd. The FOV in cars is just atrocious, too. I had no incentive to replay it with a different character type.
They pumped this guy Jackie up as your best friend in the world (after you've just met him a few hours ago in game) and tried to force this tragic loss on you when he dies, without enough character development to endear me in the first place.
Also, poor lighting and fog effects quality (exaggerated, ugly, somewhat obscuring) if you don't have ray tracing for dithering.
They broke it for me a few times with updates too which rubbed me up the wrong way (turned me off on the game... it's psychological thing). Fortunately I had GoG installers so I was able to go back to baseline and stop at the last good incremental patch while awaiting a fix.
I doubt I'll ever install that game again, never mind buying late DLC. I like Idris Elba very much too, but I'll not get sucked in again. Your favourite actor in the world will be an asshole when there are bad writers and spending money to hire them isn't necessarily going to make a game good.

James Bond has gotten so silly they could put anybody in there now. Sean Connery was the original badass Bond, but personally, I liked the suave, tongue-in-cheek, Roger Moore character best. He was pushing 70 in his last Bond roles lol
At the time I was wanting them to go back to someone more in character, but Idris Elba would have done great, seeing as they deviated from the kind of character that 007 was before that anyway. Timothy Dalton's character was too mean, Pierce Brosnan was close for the role (but not great). I enjoyed Daniel Craig, but by that point I'd pretty much given up on my conceptions of the Bond character. You just have to enjoy the movies on their own merits.

I've had the game working in the past but in the past week I tried to reinstall it on my main rig (gog/lutris) and can't get it to launch. Not sure if something has changed or not

Additions to mentions before this post, i have nvidia fanboy once before, cause there wasn't any amd/radeon drivers good enough to handle gaming in linux and amd gpus very dedicated to ms direcx, but then things changed, now amd gpu has opensources drivers and for a few years later it will have opensourced firmwares too, works great with Vulkan Api( which we depend for transgaming and its better than any other APİs like directx and openGL)
also AMD GPU paired with AMD CPU unlocks "shader cache" which is inside CPU that boost performance with very low power cost. So im very happy to being migrated to AMD.
