Much loved back in the 90s, the classic JRPG Terranigma is making a full return and this time with a PC release being confirmed right away.
More about it - Terranigma weaves a hauntingly powerful tale, recounting the story of Earth’s resurrection by the hands of a young boy named Ark, charting the planets’ progress from the earliest evolution of life, through to the present day. Lauded for its stunning character design by renowned manga artist Kamui Fujiwara, Terranigma features a narrative which will be certain to leave a lasting impression, long after gamers complete their quest.
Update: the original trailer was made private, as apparently they used a fan musical arrangement without permission. Oh dear. We've updated with screenshots and the newer trailer below.

From the press release sent to GamingOnLinux:
Ali Manzuri, General Manager at Clear River Games commented on the release of Terranigma for modern gaming platforms, "For over thirty years, Terranigma has cemented its status as a true undiscovered gem, inaccessible to many gamers in the West and long overdue for its time in the spotlight. Clear River Games exists to bring titles like these back to a modern gaming audience and as keen lovers of retro inspired gaming, we’re sure our audience will be as excited as we are to jump into this extraordinary world or Terranigma."
Kamui Fujiwara, the original artist, will be providing new key art and in-game designs, as well as feedback on the production. Fujiwara said this about it:
"30 years ago, Terranigma was released on the SNES. Now, at long last it will be available once again on console and PC, digital and physical. It may not be exactly the same as it was back then, but I'm sincerely delighted about it making its return to the current gaming environment. During the original's development, I was involved with designing not only the characters, but the world too, and even some of the game settings as well. I hope the themes of god and humanity, creation and destruction, and the atmosphere of the world itself resonate with today's players too. Not as a relic of the past, but as a living, breathing work. This moment has been long awaited and now it is finally here. I hope you will enjoy it with all your heart."
No exact release date mentioned other than "early 2027".
Quoting: tmtvlDoes that mean Soulblazer and Illusion of Time are already available? I know you don't _have_ to play them before Terranigma, but it'd make sense to release them first.Apparently not. Which is a shame, I loved Soulblazer back in the day. I'd love to see an update and maybe re-translation.
But don't know why it needs time until 2027 to wrap a rom and a snes emulator...
Quoting: CaldathrasThis retro-gaming is really taking off. I guess the big developers are running out of new ideas. 😅The latest triple A game I was interested in was Elden Ring, and that came out 4 years ago. I think the Japanese triple A studios are still making some good stuff, but I dunno if I can say the same for everyone else. Doom: The Dark Ages was alright too I guess, though I think it was a step back from Doom Eternal.
Quoting: tmtvlDoes that mean Soulblazer and Illusion of Time are already available? I know you don't _have_ to play them before Terranigma, but it'd make sense to release them first. In North America, Illusion of Time was called Illusion of Gaia. I had that one on the SNES. I should try to find if I have the t-shirt that came with the game stored away somewhere.
I haven't heard anything of the two earlier games getting a re-release.
It makes sense to re-release Terranigma, since it didn't have a release. I remember playing it as a translated ROM years ago.
