⨯ Confused by Linux / SteamOS Gaming? Be sure to check out our growing guides section.

Originally released back in 2006 for the Xbox 360, the classic JRPG 'Blue Dragon' can now be played on PC thanks to the re:Blue project. On August 27th, they had their first proper release.

This is a game I've not thought about for a long long time, and one I never managed to finish either - so I might have to give it a go with all the enhancements from re:Blue. Pretty interesting for fans of artwork from Dragon Ball's Akira Toriyama too, and the original game was actually based on a design by Final Fantasy series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi.

Just like other open source projects - it does not include the copyrighted assets, so you need your own CDs with the data to run it. For Linux / SteamOS the project has an AppImage to download.

I love all of these projects, but damn, this one comes so very close to the one I'm REALLY waiting and hoping for: Lost Odyssey!

I remember Blue Dragon, Lost Oddissey and Eternal Sonata from the Xbox 360 era very fondly.

This port is fantastic, but I wonder if it'll be taken down 😫

I liked Blue Dragon, but I prefer other JRPGS. Such as Legend of Dragoon and its engine port: [(External Link: You need to be logged in to view this.)](Severed Chains.)

Wake me when they give Fable 2 this treatment. Having to pull out my 360 is a hassle, to say nothing of Xenia
