The itch.io app has been upgraded with some very useful additions, that make using it actually a whole lot nicer.
Version 26.20.0 was released recently and includes the ability to add shortcuts of games into Steam, which is incredibly useful for the likes of Steam Deck, Steam Machine, SteamOS and anyone using Steam Big Picture Mode. To go along with that, the itch app now supports running games via a headless CLI mode with a simple command too.
On top of that if you have standalone downloads from itch, you can now link them in the app. Plus various other small improvements and bug fixes in the changelog.
With all these changes on top of actually (finally) listing bundles in your account library properly from the v26.15.0 release back in July - the itch app just become a lot more useful.
These types of changes might make me actually use itch more, especially with all the random charity bundles I've supported over the years. Finally having it all nicely integrated, with the Steam shortcut feature - wonderful.
Quoting: eldersnakeNow if they could just have a Wine manager or something for non native games ๐It does let you install Windows games but I believe it relies on system Wine.
Quoting: Liam Squires-HandCorrect, I installed a Windows game and it did run just fine. But yeah would be system Wine and doesn't give any control over it. Of course I can download the game installer separately and put it though something like Heroic, but kinda defeats the purpose lolQuoting: eldersnakeNow if they could just have a Wine manager or something for non native games ๐It does let you install Windows games but I believe it relies on system Wine.

Quoting: scaineI bought a game, then discovered later that I already owned it from one of the many bundles I'd bought. No warning from the Itch storeThat *was* annoying, but they did fix that (quite some time ago now).
the itch app just become a lot more usefulDoes sound nice, but Heroic is still planning support for itch.io, right? :)
the itch app now supports running games via a headless CLI modeThis is pretty useful in case of adding Heroic games to Steam (Deck) so it will be nice to have in itch as well!
