RPCS3 is a multi-platform open-source Sony PlayStation 3 emulator that keeps pulling in some massive improvements - check out their new showcase.

The new video goes over some of the most notable improvements to it across the summer featuring games like Twisted Metal, LittleBigPlanet, inFamous and God of War 3/Ascension.

Twisted Metal for example has the lighting fixed to make it look correct, making the visuals now on-par with the original on PlayStation 3. Performance still isn't where it needs to be though, not quite playable yet it appears. God of War 3 had a fix for the sky colours, LittleBigPlanet had lighting and ambient occlusion fixed, Puppeteer had broken lighing and rendering fixed to make it properly playable and lots more game fixes.

RPCN, the internet play service, also expanded to include the likes of: player count for games, leaderboards and trophies. RPCS3's UI also went through some upgrades to allow you to make game collections.

And - ARM64 support was also improved so performance reached playable levels across many devices.

The only thing I'm waiting for them to add is more controller gyro support. Doki doki universe is currently completely unbeatable on steam deck due to a very minor tutorial mission requiring you to "tilt" the controller

On release, yes, the "Sixaxis" controller, but it was replaced for the Dual Shock 3 some time after.
I remember playing Lair at a friend's house using the motion controls, we joked about it for a long time because the game was so bad and my friend paid full price for it.

RPCS3 is amazing. For years people said it basically couldn't be done, the architecture was simply too complex for anything like traditional emulation, and now it even has really viable network support that works on tons of games.

Amazingly talented people put so much work into this.

RPCS3 is the whole reason I played any PS3 games personally
