Spy Drops Gaiden is channelling some retro Metal Gear here with their upcoming old school 2D stealth action game that arrives in October. A demo is available to try out on Steam right now.

I remember playing a few classic Game Boy titles like this, although of course in a much lower resolution and usually at night with some sort of light magnifier attached to my Game Boy. How far we've come since then huh?

More from the Steam page:

"Set on an island off the coast of Japan, infiltrate fortified bases, carrying out a series of classified missions to neutralize a global threat.

Keeping to the shadows for cover, use stealth to sneak past guards, moving slowly to reduce noise, crawling under vehicles and avoiding surveillance cameras.

Explore enemy bases solo, where you're vastly outnumbered, tackling missions such as prisoner rescue, gathering intel and flying a drone in enemy territory.

Use the Dream Catcher on knocked out enemies to extract intel and gain access to secure facilities.

Let off some steam in two retro inspired bonus games where you mow down as many enemies as you can.

Take on the role of special agent Ripley in a series of high pressure covert missions that takes place after the conclusion of Spy Drops."

Sounds like an ideal match for the Steam Deck, since this game is paying homage to retro portable gaming and the Deck is a portable game platform.
