BlizzCon 2026 just happened and with it we got some big announcements - here's your highlights of some of the big stuff coming.
StarCraft Dominion is coming in 2030 - unfortunately for fans of RTS games, they've moved away from it as we're getting an open-world shooter. Still, could be quite interesting within the StarCraft world.

Diablo V is coming in Spring 2029. This one seems to have an even darker tone than the previous games. Sanctuary has fallen, and Diablo has won.

On top of that - tomorrow, September 15, Diablo IVβs Season of Hellβs Legacy lands. It brings back the Prime Evils, the Lord of Terror included, along with Deckard Cain, Nightmare Rifts, anniversary rewards, and gear pulled from every era of the series. Additionally, in the first half of 2027 the Amazon class arrives.

Direct Link
Warcraft III: Reforged got a brand new expansion with Forsaken Kingdom - which is out right now.

Direct Link
The last of the big game announcements is World of Warcraft: Forever, yes there's now a third different way to play WoW. It arrives November 4th. From what I heard it will have gamepad support baked right into it too - making it more accessible than ever.

Direct Link
Hopefully we'll continue to see the games releasing on Steam to make them easy for SteamOS / Linux gamers without the need of any third-party launchers like Heroic.

But somehow I want to try out WoW Forever. Only played WoW for two weeks just before the Mists of Pandaria release.
But with controller support I want to give it a try on my Steam machine/CachyOS desktop.
Hopefully we'll continue to see the games releasing on SteamI am afraid this might not be likely with the current direction Microsoft has taken.
We didn't even see other existing Blizzard games released on Steam, like Diablo 1 (available on GOG!) or WC 3 Reforged.

Quoting: pbSorry, I meant: games other than Diablo 2, 4, and Overwatch.Quoting: hardpenguinWe didn't even see other existing Blizzard games released on Steam, like Diablo 1 (available on GOG!) or WC 3 Reforged.Diablo II and IV are on Steam, just saying...
Quoting: pbIs it normal that the only game I've played from Blizzard is The Lost Vikings (1&2)? BTW it could use a remake (and/or a sequel). ;-)You ever try Blackthorne? Awesome too btw.
Quoting: SlaxerYou ever try Blackthorne? Awesome too btw. Can't say that I did, even though it apparently was released for Amiga. Looks cool! Thanks! :-)
Quoting: neolithI'll never forgive them for what they did to WarCraft III with Reforged. π€¬ And I am sure the Blizzard of today is not able to do the original game justice with a new expansion. What's wrong with it?
Quoting: Liam Squires-HandWhat's wrong with it?The game was a downgrade in terms of visuals and features. Blizzard showed upgraded visuals in their previews, but the game did not look like those when it was released. The models had bad looking shaders and choppy animations. We were also promised completely re-done cutscenes, but those were missing, too.
Mulitplayer over LAN was scrapped in favor of Battlenet. Clans, tournaments, stats, and the ranked ladder also went the way of the dodo and all their old data was deleted.
On top of that the editor and its license were changed. No matter what kind of mod or map you would create with the new one, all rights for your work now automatically go to Blizzard.
The most offensive thing though was the mandatory update. If you'd bought the original you were automatically upgraded to the new version and can not play the original any more.

If you'd bought the original you were automatically upgraded to the new version and can not play the original any more.Everything else you said is true, except for this... I think. The last time I had the game installed (which was about 2 years ago), I was able to play original War 3 just fine. I'm also pretty sure competitive War 3 players currently still choose to play on the original version because the graphics are more readable than the Reforged version, and probably because it just looks better.
Quoting: TarosWould be awesome if they release the new WoW on Steam (will not happen of course).WoW has controller support in Classic and Retail already. It's just not a first class citizen in the game. If you add the addon from CurseForge, ConsolePort then it makes it really easy to use your controller. It's a bit janky in places, but seriously ConsolePort is really good for what it is and for all the mess that has to be worked around. Finished leveling my Warrior to 90, just this weekend; sitting on my couch, playing from the TV. On my Steam Machine I have all the graphics set all the way up to level 10 while out questing and grinding.

I always suggest ConsolePort to everyone, it's definitely worth it for leveling.
Quoting: neolithI'll never forgive them for what they did to WarCraft III with Reforged. π€¬ And I am sure the Blizzard of today is not able to do the original game justice with a new expansion. In 2024 they hired a team to fix the game. Not a bunch mercenaries, true warcraft lore lovers. They didn't fix all the crap of the infamous *update* (yet), but a good deal of it. And they also fixed the old client so no need to go reforged if it's for local play. Given the trajectory there are no reasons to believe the game will be made up to old standards of theirs.
In the end Blizzard is a true us company. You can always trust it to do the right thing after it tried everything else. For all the games the boardroom managed to ruin, the devs with time and patience were able to eventually patch them into perfect shape.
It's not a company to trust with day 0 purchases anymore. But imho if you have patience they eventually take the time it takes and make it right.

The last Blizzard game I played was the original Diablo 2. They lost me forever when Diablo 3 released with the always online DRM.
I guess it's a good thing that I have absolutely zero interest in any of the games mentioned, because of how difficult blizzard is with linux gaming.
Quoting: JarmerHow creatively bankrupt can you possibly be? Blizzard: "hold my beer ..."Wait, what? Really? Don't get me wrong, I don't like what Blizzard's become either, but their games never had a problem running on Linux. They've even gone out of their way to fix problems a few times to make sure Overwatch ran on Proton. Mind you, I haven't had OW installed since I decided to stop playing it (years ago now). I still have Starcraft 2 installed though, single player and multiplayer works fine.

Really...
Quoting: Dmitri SeletskiHot Darn, Statecraft HAD to be warhammer40k as Emperor intended it to be.lol starcraft from the very beginnings has always been "dollar store wh40k".
