Valve just released SteamOS 3.8.28 Beta, along with a Steam Client Beta for all platforms with more fixes. This follows on from the recent Steam Beta that added in the fancy new Remote Play video codec, Pyrowave.

Both quite small updates just focused on cleaning up some issues reported to them.

For the SteamOS 3.8.28 Beta, it brings in one single addition:

  • Fixed an issue where game performance could be degraded after sleep/resume on systems with AMD discrete GPUs

And the Steam Client Beta:

General

  • Fixed the on-screen keyboard not popping up in non-Steam games after toggling wifi or suspending the machine.

Steam Input

  • Fixed the glyphs shown for the Xbox Elite Controller paddle buttons.

Remote Play: Pyrowave

  • Fixed occasional flickering when streaming to Linux and SteamOS clients.
  • Switched encoding to use the compute queue to avoid contention with game GPU usage.
  • Fixed GPU memory leak on the client when frequently changing resolutions.

Oh, cool. I thought it was just the limitation of my GPU. Is this included in the 3.9 branch as well?
