Cleared Hot is one of my indie favourites from 2025, currently in Early Access this nostalgic helicopter shooter is about to get a big expansion in content. The developer has announced Chapter 2 is set to arrive on October 15th, and we're going to the Jungle!

If you love the sound of blowing things up, and throwing things around the map - this is for you. It really reminds me of some classics like Desert Strike while feeling nice and modern.

The main stuff from the update:

Key Changes
  • A new 9 mission campaign with comparable playtime to the Chapter 1 campaign.
  • New boss fight (no spoilers...) .
  • Two new helicopters: the Ka-52 Alligator and the MH-53 Pave Low, the winners of our helicopter poll.
  • Unique abilities for all 11 helicopters, reflecting how each aircraft is used in the real world.
  • A Utility Slot system. Flares, chaff, EMP, airstrikes, and smoke grenades available as in-world pickups as well as upgrades in the hangar.
  • New weather system: Rain, lightning and thunder in the Jungle campaign.
  • New enemies, including BTRs, Shilkas, gunboats, swift boats, drone swarms, and new turrets.
  • Helicopter skins, unlocked with in-game currency. (with more to come based on your feedback).
  • A level editor and early file-based modding support. Build your own missions or write custom mods.
  • New water system with water buoyancy physics.
  • Reworked gun overheating: guns will now force a cooldown after overheating, and there is an updated UI indicator that is more visible.
  • Various performance optimizations.

Happy to see we got a better helicopter game after Comanche was a disappointment.
