ProtonUp-Qt v2.6.1 adds support for the Heroic Launcher Flatpak

By - | Views: 10,719

ProtonUp-Qt gives you an incredibly easy way to install compatibility layers on Linux like GE-Proton (formerly Proton GE), Lutris-Wine, Luxtorpeda and more.

The developer just recently put up version 2.6.1, which as a bit of a highlight should now work nicely with the Flatpak version of the Heroic Games Launcher (for the Epic Games Store). This is especially good for the Steam Deck, where I imagine most people will be using the Flatpak, since it's easy to install and update via the Discover software centre.

Example shot from the developer of the app

Apart from that it also adds a "tool description to install dialog" just to give a bit more info on what you're doing.

That's a very nifty app that I'm sure I first heard about here.

Exactly, first heard here and ... tried within the next minutes and ... it's clearly super handy

Beside it allows to install/remove GE releases, it also shows what game is using what GE release and even allow to switch between installed versions directly within ProtonUp-Qt. When you have a huge colleciton of games, it's clearly more than handy
A great application, the developer has done a fantastic job. It has a great UX focus on simplicity that I love.

I love how this app has a game list showing which games are using what proton versions, it drives me nuts when I can't uninstall an old version of Proton because I explicitly set a particular version for a (mystery!) game in the past.
