Moving on from Twitter

By - | Views: 25,863

Update 19/12/22: Twitter has now completely removed the new rules, including removing all posts about it from the official Twitter Support account. It's a small step in the right direction. Mastodon links are still completely blocked though. For now, I will still be pointing you to follow us in other places.

In light of everything going on with Twitter right now, GamingOnLinux will no longer be sharing any news to the platform, as it has become incredibly hostile.

Repeatedly banning journalists critical of Elon Musk (the new owner of Twitter), banning the Mastodon Twitter account, then banning links to Mastodon and it just keeps on getting worse. Add into that their plans to keep expanding the paid version, which will begin to silence people who don't pay and become a worse version of Reddit.

On top of that, they're now going to be forcefully banning links to other social networking platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Post and Nostr and 3rd-party social media link aggregators such as linktr.ee, lnk.bio. There's many other problems with Twitter, this is hardly even scratching the surface.

Twitter has become an openly hostile platform under Musk. It's no longer a social network. It's a play-thing for Musk to silence anyone critical, and repeatedly ban anything he doesn't personally like.

I'm done with it.
