Aether combines Risk of Rain 2 with Wizard of Legend

What do you get when you combine the elemental combat system from Wizard of Legend, with the gameplay progression from Risk of Rain 2? The result is Aether.

Now available in Early Access on Steam, developer ORYgames has created a rather entertaining cocktail of gameplay elements here. They sent me a key to take a look, and I have to say my initial impression is rather positive on this one, because it's a really good blending.

The basic gameplay loop is very much Risk of Rain 2 where you drop into a map and fight through enemies, collect relics to power up and then beat the boss to continue onto the next map. You'll do this using your elemental powers like Fire, Water, Ice and so on with one initially picked during the brief intro and the rest you can purchase as you progress through to swap between them. As you go through taking down enemies, you can then level up that element for you run to gain access to more powerful abilities.

Since it's a new release, and Early Access, it's a little rough around the edges (especially the UI), but it shows an enormous amount of promise and it's already really fun to blast through with the different elements. If you love action rogue-lites, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.
