By - | Views: 8,135

In the mood to play a retro-inspired RPG with turn-based combat? By Any Means Necessary [Steam, Official Site] has officially added Linux support. They say it was not built with RPG maker, something they're keen to note as it's something that seems to get asked as soon as people see "2D" and "RPG" next to each other.

Features:

  • Trigger additional round actions by meeting battle requirements. These can include having certain combinations of status effects or the current status of the team.
  • Scroll system to enhance character stats and abilities.
  • No items can be used in battle. Rely on the character's abilities to complete your quest.
  • Multiple side quests. Find the hidden dungeon, collect the most powerful scrolls, hunt beasts in the Norsfolk swamp and defeat all the monsters in the Pet Arena.

To celebrate, the developer has put it on sale with 66% off on Steam until March 24th.

Thanks for the tip, scaine!

Quoting: PublicNuisanceI tried it in Solus as well as Linux Mint with the same results. I'm thinking that since you use an Nvidia GPU and I use an AMD it could be an issue the game or engine is having with the Mesa drivers. I'd try it on Arch but I don't have the time or the balls to dive into Arch at the moment. One day.

Try Antergos maybe ?
Or Anarchy Linux ?
They're still based on Arch so the underlying bits should be the same minus the customization each project undertook.
