It's now official, This Is the Police 2 [Official Site] a mix of a story-driven adventure with elements of a strategy game is releasing August 2nd with Linux support.

Interpret the law as you see fit in This Is the Police 2, sequel to the acclaimed noir drama This Is the Police! Run the sheriff’s department, manage your cops, investigate, interrogate, incarcerate, make tough decisions – and try to keep out of prison yourself! – in this story-driven mixture of adventure and strategy, set in a cold border town riven with violence.

Confirmation comes from THQNordic (along with the official This Is the Police 2 Twitter account) with Linux as a release platform, which is really damn exciting as it looks excellent.

Have a look at some gameplay:

It's confirmed for Steam and GOG, although the GOG store page is not currently listing Linux as a platform, hopefully it will make it although they do sometimes get Linux builds a little later as they verify it works correctly first. Update: GOG now lists Linux too.

Looks interesting.

I enjoyed the original so if they make a Linux version of the sequel it will be a day 1 buy for me.

Quoting: GuestOh no, a "End turn" button! So it’s a tactical turn-based combat game?

I bought the first one a while ago but haven’t had the chance to try it yet.

The original has no combat, it's strictly a story based management sim.

It looks to me like it will involve combat but I'd also expect the tactical situations to be about more than combat. After all you're supposed to conduct police business not just murderize everything in sight.
