Broken Lines, an alternate take on WWII history brings tactical RPG has a fresh trailer out for 2020, plus it seems like a release could be soon.

First, about the upcoming release, while the Steam store states "Q1 2020" it seems on the Steam forum they said this is looking like end of February. That's really close and to hype it up a bit they have a new story trailer with little bits of gameplay sprinkled in, take a look below:

The combat is certainly going to be interesting, as they're not doing a traditional turn-based approach here. You plan what each member of your crew is going to do, then watch it all happen at once when you execute you plan in what's usually referred to as "WeGo". Although, it will interrupt your plan when new hazards arrive so you can adjust. Not many games go for this when dealing with small squads, so I'm keen to see it.

What interests me on top of that is how it's not a linear game, the developer said that you will be making certain choices that "shape the story to your liking leading to a different campaign endings". Your decisions affect not only your soldiers but the whole region, and you also need to keep your crew happy.

You can wishlist and follow on Steam, no GOG page is up yet.

I'd be curious what the "alternate" history is and how it ties into the storyline, but couldn't find anything about it on their website or on Steam.

I already had it on my wishlist recommended because I played COH2... so it seems it is a RTS?
I like the WeGo approach very much. When it's done right it makes you speculate on enemy moves and opens possibilities to do the unexpected.
This looks quite interesting!

I'm very happy it's actually turn-based.

I don't know this term. Is it like in Frozen Synapse?

I think I will like this.

I am guessing its like panzer general where it is possible to win in europe and start a mainland invasion of the USA i did that it took nearly six months, what helped was signing a truce then eventual alliance with the British Empire which gave me canada to launch attacks from as well as a bump in avilable personel if its something like that i am down. Its the reason i played the civil war games as the confederates its a more challenging position you have to make the most with the least. Like the navy blockade I cant compete so dont try make it a land war develop land locked states and postion armies around a core defendable area and let the enemy waste man power on fighting your guerilla tactics. Sorry way off topic potentially interesting game.

Thank you, yes. I watched the video --- twice --- and unless WW II was devoid of fog, I'm at a loss too.
